Arsenal 2-0 Lyon: Player ratings from the Gunner’s final pre-season game

Arsenal defeated Lyon 2-0 in the Emirates Cup as the pre-season ended. The gunners scored both their goals from the corners as Declan Rice recorded two assists in the game. In the first half Lyon were forced to sit in their half as they struggled to deal with Arsenal’s press and the pace of the likes of Martinelli and Havertz.

Around 9 minutes in the game William Saliba opened the scoring, before his centre-back partner Gabriel put his name in the scoresheet with a header at the back post with Lyon keeper Perri nowhere to be found. The Gunner threatened to run riot with Martinelli causing havoc for the majority of the game, while Bukayo Saka hit the post in the second half. They had double the number of shots, 16 as compared to Lyon’s eight.
