why Arsenal vs Chelsea won’t be happening this weekend in the Premier League?

Arsenal were set to take on Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend, but the game has been postponed to a later date. Here’s why!

Arsenal vs Chelsea London derby in the Premier League postponed

11th placed Chelsea had braced themselves to visit the Emirates Stadium to face the in-form Arsenal. However, in an interesting turn, Arsenal vs Chelsea has been postponed to a late date as Chelsea are set to play their quarter-finals tie in the FA Cup this weekend. The Blues were originally going to face the Gunners on 16th March, but after progressing in the FA Cup they were handed their quarter-final tie against Championship side Leicester City on the 17th. Since Chelsea obviously can’t play on back-to-back days, the London Derby has been postponed to a late date.

The news will be welcomed by The Gunners after their midweek second-leg tie against Porto in the Champions League went into extra time. The Gunners looked exhausted after winning the game against Porto on penalties and will be looking forward to resting over the weekend. They won’t be concerned about the title race pressure mounting up either as their rivals Man City and Liverpool will be contesting in the FA Cup as well.

Arsenal’s Resurgence: A return to the top

The Gunners has been exceptional this season and are currently top of the table in the English Premier League. In their 28 matches in the league this campaign, Arsenal have won a whopping 64 ties while winning 20 games. The club has completely transformed under Arteta and has been brilliant in the UEFA Champions League as well. Their win against Porto enabled The Gunners to secure a spot in the quarter finals. They will now face Bundesliga reigning champions Bayern Munich. If they manage to win the two legged tie, they will make their first semi final in over a decade in the Champions League.
