Arsenal Midfielder Set to Make Serie A Return Next Season

Amid speculation surrounding his future, the agent of Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has ignited talks of a potential return to Serie A, mentioning several Italian clubs as potential destinations for the player post-season.

Jorginho Set to Leave Arsenal

Jorginho, who made the move from Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium in January 2023, signed an 18-month contract with the option of a one-year extension.

Despite experiencing fluctuations in his playing time during his tenure with Arsenal, the 32-year-old has recently showcased his prowess in key matches against Liverpool and Newcastle United, solidifying his importance within Mikel Arteta’s squad.

While Jorginho appears settled in London, having been there since July 2018, speculation of a return to Serie A, where he notably represented Napoli, has persisted.

His agent, Joao Santos, hinted at potential moves to Italian clubs, including Lazio, Juventus, and Napoli, citing various factors that could make each club an attractive option for the midfielder.

Santos particularly emphasized Lazio’s allure, underlining the presence of former boss Maurizio Sarri, who is familiar with Jorginho’s playing style.

Additionally, he mentioned Juventus, highlighting the club’s esteemed sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, with whom Jorginho previously worked at Napoli.

Napoli themselves remains a viable option, especially with the recent appointment of coach Francesco Calzona, who has a history of collaboration with Sarri.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Jorginho’s future, his agent’s comments have fueled speculation about a potential return to Serie A. Lazio currently sits in eighth place in the Serie A standings but holds a promising lead over Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16.

Juventus are poised for a return to Champions League football, while Napoli are undergoing a transition phase under their third head coach of the season.

As the season progresses, the footballing world awaits developments regarding Jorginho’s next move, with Serie A clubs closely monitoring the situation as they potentially vie for the midfielder’s signature.
