Defending UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid will travel to the other side of the Spanish capital to face off against their arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in the second leg. Los Blancos secured a 2-1 against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. The first leg witnessed Real Madrid pull off a 2-1 win at home which means they have a slight advantage heading into the reverse leg.
Rodrygo opened the scoring for the hosts with just four minutes on the clock before Argentine World Champion Julian Alvarez came to Atletico’s rescue yet again. Alvarez brought the game back on level terms, but Real Madrid had other plans. Brahim Diaz’s early second-half goal meant the defending champions took a one-goal advantage into the second leg.
Antonio Rüdiger and Thibaut Courtois Return To Training
Real Madrid’s star defensive duo of Antonio Rüdiger and Thibaut Courtois were out of action against Rayo Vallecano in the last game. Their absence raised questions about their availability heading into the second leg.
While Rudiger was said to be suffering from flu, Courtois was dealing with a muscle injury. However, the duo have returned to training and have discarded all the speculations regarding their availability. Both the players trained with the first team and have shown good signs of recovery.

Rudiger and Courtois are two integral pillars of Real Madrid’s backline and their absence has always turned out to be very expensive for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. David Alaba and Raul Asencio started the last game in their absence and did a decent job. But, given the high stakes and the intensity that the game promises, Ancelloti is expected to bring both Rudiger and Courtois back into the starting line-up to avoid any unfavorable circumstances.
