Will Andriy Lunin Play Against Valencia In La Liga

Real Madrid are going through a major goalkeeping crisis this season with Andriy Lunin joining the injury list alongside Thibaut Courtois. This only aggravates their defensive woes since quite a few of their defenders are already injured as well. Lunin’s injury comes at the worst time possible for Real Madrid since this is a crucial time for them in La Liga. Real Madrid are second in the table with 63 points whereas rivals FC Barcelona are first with 66 points. Even one loss at this stage can tip the odds against them.

Andriy Lunin has started the last two games for Real Madrid since first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois picked up a muscle injury whilst on international duty with the Belgian national team. Unfortunately, now Lunin is injured as well after he put an impressive performance in the 4-4 draw against Real Sociedad which saw Real Madrid progress to the finals

Andriy Lunin Injury Detail

Andriy Lunin has suffered a tear in his soleus muscle and is sidelined for at least four weeks. Real Madrid staff are contemplating using painkiller injections to help him play against Valencia. However, that does come with a risk since it could further aggravate the injury. Should Real Madrid choose not to give pain-killer injections to Lunin, 19-year-old Fran Gonzalez is ready to make his debut for the senior team. Fran Gonzalez has been part of the majority of the match-day squads, often training with the main team and will hope to make his debut against Valencia and put in a solid performance for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are still the favorites to win against Valencia due to their form and home advantage. Madrid has won four of their last five games whereas Valencia has won only two, drawing two and losing one. Valencia are in 15th place currently and to add further dismay, they have won only two out of their last ten fixtures against Real Madrid across all competitions.
