Alphonso Davies contract details offered by Bayern Munich revealed

Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies have been in a tug-of-war situation regarding the player’s contract extension issue. The Canadian has requested a certain amount of pay rise which has not been granted by Bayern so far. Latest report from Bild said that the Bavarian-based club offered €11 million gross a year plus add-ons.

The offer was a reaction to Alphonso Davies and his agent’s request of €20 million gross a year. Bild reported that Bayern will not move from their proposition giving the player a ‘take it or leave it’ kind of deal. Also, the club offered Davies a contract extension until 2029.

Bayern Munich are pushing for the best solution for Alphonso Davies and the club

Bayern never had an intention of selling Davies in the beginning. The club’s president Herbert Heiner told the media last December that the plan was to stick with the current contract agreement.

He’s with us under contract until June 2025, he’s one of the best full-backs in the world,” Heiner said via Goal. “Of course we want to keep Davies and I hope he wants to stay also.”

Bayern CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen admitted that the club is pushing for the best solution for both parties. However, he is not closing any possibilities if the player really have to leave the club.

“He is a player who has developed excellently on the left side thanks to his pace and character,” Dreesen said via Sportskeeda. “We are in talks with his agent. Now Max (Eberl, Bayern’s board member) will get involved. It depends on how Max and Christoph see the future.”

Real Madrid emerges as the best suitor for Alphonse Davies

This is a new haggle phase going on for Davies and Bayern over the past few months. The deal was so tough that some reports suggested Real Madrid have made a move for the player to sign him in the summer. Howver, Davies is still on contract with the Bundesliga champions until June 2025.

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti refused to explain the situation, saying that he trusted his players so far and being reluctant of a possibility for an incoming player.

However, the current situation might have distracted Davies in keeping his performance on the pitch. Earlier in January, Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel admitted that his player is having an issue with focus.

‘Phonzy’ is a very nice and sensitive guy,” Tuchel explained Davies’ situation after Bayern’s loss to Werder Bremen. “He is self-critical and I think the situation is holding him back more than inspiring him. Overall, he has lacked a bit of confidence over a longer period of time. But, of course, it’s important that he shapes our game with his pace.”

Tuchel also added that the club would help Davies to pull himself together in order to get the performance back as it was used to. This season, the Ghana-born full back has featured in 31 games for Bayern, scoring one. Last season, he scored three goals in 38 matches.
