Alisson Becker to miss Bournemouth clash at Anfield due to injury
An injury concern disrupts the impressive start that Alisson Becker had for Liverpool this season. Before the Premier League fixture against Bournemouth at Anfield this week, the Brazilian goalkeeper reportedly had a little muscle problem. The Reds coach Arne Slot revealed that the injury is not something that just came in last night.
Slot told the media that Alisson had already felt that there was something wrong with his muscle before the Champions League clash against AC Milan. However, the former AS Roma player decided to carry on but the pain was worsening.
“I think he didn’t (get injured in) the Milan game, it happened a bit before, but after the Milan game he felt (it) more and more,” he said in the press conference via the club’s website. “Now we have to wait to see if he is ready to be in goal tomorrow, or we have to wait a few more extra days.”
Slot assessing the situation
With this situation, Alisson would likely miss the Bournemouth game and Slot is plotting a backup plan with Caoimhin Kelleher stepping in.
“Alisson is still a doubt if he can train today, so let’s wait [to see] if he can train. “Then, if he can’t then he will probably not play as well, so we have to wait and see.
Alisson was the latest player which included in Liverpool’s injury list this season. Before him, it was Harvey Elliott who had been sidelined for weeks. The aforementioned had a good start with Liverpool this season, securing three clean sheets in the first three league appearances.
The latest Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest added a minor dent to that flawless record. The conceding trend continued when The Reds visited San Siro to face AC Milan in the Champions League where the six-time winners claimed a 3-1 victory.
