Al Ettifaq Eyes Everton Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure as Jordan Henderson’s Replacement
Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq are reportedly considering Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure as a potential replacement for Jordan Henderson. Although there has been an informal approach to Doucoure’s advisers, Al Ettifaq are yet to formally approach Everton regarding the player.
The move to Al Ettifaq would reunite Doucoure with his former Everton teammate Demarai Gray, who made the switch to the Saudi Pro League last summer. Steven Gerrard‘s team is eager to secure a new midfielder following Henderson’s confirmed departure from Ajax.
As Everton’s top scorer in the current Premier League season with six goals, Doucoure has attracted attention with his impressive performances. The 31-year-old midfielder, who has 18 months left on his contract with Everton, has become a fan favourite at Goodison Park.
Doucoure’s decision not to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, where he has two caps for Mali, underlines his commitment to continuing his contributions to Everton.
However, a setback occurred as he sustained a hamstring injury, the extent of which is still unclear, and there is uncertainty regarding his return to action.

Providing updates on Doucoure’s and Seamus Coleman’s fitness after an FA Cup third-round replay victory over Crystal Palace, Everton manager Sean Dyche mentioned that Doucoure’s injury is to the other leg and unrelated to his previous issues.
While Coleman is expected to return shortly, Doucoure’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, pending further assessment.
The interest from Al Ettifaq adds an intriguing dimension to Doucoure’s future, and Everton will likely assess the situation carefully as they navigate potential changes to their midfield dynamics.
