AC Milan vs Feyenoord Preview

  • Tournament: UEFA Champions League
  • Date: 18th February 2025
  • Kickoff time: 17:45
  • Venue: San Siro, Milan

It’s the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoffs and we have AC Milan vs Feyenoord at San Siro on Tuesday night. When the two sides met last week in The Netherlands, the Dutch side picked up a 1-0 advantage to take to Italy.

AC Milan has lost two of their three meetings with Feyenoord, but all of them have been away from home. Their only home clash with the Dutch side was in the 1969 European Cup and they won it 1-0.

The Italian side came into the game after a 1-0 win over Verona in the Serie A. The San Siro side would be the favorites going into the game despite the result last week and could seal the win in normal time.

Feyenoord have lost five of their six away matches against Italian sides and will have that in the back of their minds on Tuesday. Their only win in Italy was against Lazio in 2000, when they won 2-1.

Unlike AC Milan, Feyenoord did not have a fruitful outing in the league over the weekend. They drew goalless to NAC Breda and will be hoping to get back to their best when they take the pitch at San Siro.

Alessandro Florenzi is ruled out with an injury while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is not expected to make his return this week. Emerson Royal is also out and that could see Sergio Conceicao name the same starting XI as last week’s defeat to Feyenoord.

Feyenoord has a lengthy injury lost with as many as 8 players ruled out. Gernot Trauner, Bart Nieuwkoop, Hwang In-Beom, Calvin Stengs, Chris-Kévin Nadje, Jordan Lotomba, Justin Bijlow, and Ramiz Zerrouki are all out of the match, while Quilindschy Hartman is ineligible. The headache does not end there for the Dutch side as Quinten Timber and Ayase Ueda face late fitness tests ahead of the match after missing the goalless draw to NAC Breda.

Santiago Gimenez moved from Feyenoord to AC Milan during the winter window and he will be leading the attack for the Italian side. He has scored twice in his first 4 matches for the Serie A club and will be looking to prove his worth today.

He has just 1.2 xG from his last 3 matches but every time he gets a good chance, the shot is mostly on target. Feyenoord players will know of his strengths, having played with him for the season so far.

Moussa has 3 goals this season but is on a slow run. He has one goal in his last 5 matches in the league and will be desperate to help his side make it to the next round.
