AC Milan vs AS Roma Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips | Europa League

AC Milan vs AS Roma Preview:

  • Date: Thursday, 11 April
  • Kick-off Time: 7:00 PM (GMT)
  • Venue: San Siro

With the UEFA Europa League set to return midweek, AC Milan will take on AS Roma in the first leg of the quarterfinals at San Siro. AC Milan come into the game on the back of an impressive unbeaten run of eight games. Milan were in action over the weekend in the Serie A as well as they beat Leece 3-0. The Rossoneri have slowly turned into one of the most daunting sides in Europe this campaign after a slow start to the season which also saw them being eliminated from the UCL group stage.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum are AS Roma. The Italian club has struggled this season and even fired legendary manager Jose Mourinho as manager. Since then several things have changed at the club as Daniele de Rossi took over as manager. When Jose left, the club was languishing in 9th place and now they find themselves in 5th place, only three points behind 4th-placed Bologna. Their revival under de Rossi was evident over the weekend as well as they beat Lazio 1-0 in the Derby della Capitale. Now, the side is eyeing the Europa League trophy.

Milan have struggled with injuries all season long but will consider themselves lucky as they enter the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals with a small injury list.

In the AC Milan vs AS Roma tie, Milan will be without the services of Tommaso Pobega. The midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in December last year and isn’t expected to return for either leg of the quarterfinals. Pierre Kalulu will accompany Pobega on the sidelines as the young fullback suffered an injury in March and is yet to recover from it. Kalulu injured his knee and is expected to return only in May.

Milan will also be unable to avail of Malick Thiaw’s services as the French defender sustained a foot injury on 5th April. While he is slated to return to the first squad soon, it seems unlikely that he will make a surprise return to the squad for AC Milan vs AS Roma.

However, Milan’s biggest miss on the night will be English defender Fikayo Tomori. Tomori has been a beast for Milan in central defense, but a suspension will see him miss the crucial first leg of AC Milan vs AS Roma.

The Romans are all set for the upcoming battle at the San Siro and enter the tie with only one injury. Striker Sardar Azmoun suffered a brutal hamstring injury in March and will remain on the sidelines for Roma as they travel to the battleground of San Siro. While Houssem Aouar missed Roma’s previous league game against Lazio with a virus, the Romans are positive of recovering the midfielder ahead of the tie.

Meanwhile, in a blow to Roma’s defense, Evan N’Dicka will miss the AC Milan vs AS Roma tie via a suspension.
