Eintracht Frankfurt unwilling to alter wage structure to complete signing of PSG forward

Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly unwilling to alter their wage structure to accommodate Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Hugo Ekitike in their ranks.

This is as per reports from BILD (via Get German Football News), which add that Frankfurt are still interested in another striker despite the arrival of Sasa Kalajdzic on loan, but will not overpay.

Ekitike reportedly earns around €7 million per year with PSG and the Bundesliga club are willing to offer no more than €2.5-3 million. Their current top earners are Mario Gotze and Kevin Trapp – both on a reported €3.5 million, and its hard to see them pay a youngster more.

However, a reduction in salary will be lower on the concerns list for Hugo Ekitike. The striker, who played nearly 1,400 minutes last season, has only played for eight minutes this year. Arrivals of Randall Kolo Muani (Frankfurt) and Goncalo Ramos (Benfica) have pushed him further down the pecking order.

This has prompted the player and his camp to look for a move elsewhere, possibly on loan or even a permanent move. His ongoing deal with PSG runs until June 2027.

Ekitike made it through the youth ranks at Reims before the Parisians acquired him in a loan deal with a €35 million mandatory buy option in 2023. Since joining, he has made 33 appearances for the French champions, scoring four and assisting four goals.

Standing at nearly 190cm tall, Hugo Ekitike possesses the ideal skillset to become a successful target man. He can also dribble the ball and has decent acceleration that helps him beat defenders. He also packs a powerful shot with both feet and is also fairly good in the air.

While his future under Luis Enrique at PSG seems rather bleak, it will be interesting to see where he moves and how he revives his career.
