Vinicius Jr celebrates like idol Cristiano Ronaldo after hattrick in UCL

In a stellar UEFA Champions League 2024-25 match, defending champions Real Madrid snatched a jaw-dropping victory from the hands of German giants Borussia Dortmund. Vinicius Jr was the star of the show with his superior performance and heartwarming gesture.

After scoring his third goal and Real Madrid’s final of the game, Vinicius celebrated by taking his shirt off and displaying the back-side, with his name in front of the fans, giving a big flashback to all Real Madrid fans. This iconic celebration reminds everyone of legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s similar one against arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the 2017 Spanish Super Cup.

Vinicius is the new Super Number 7 of Madrid

Vinicius pointed at the No. 7 on his jersey, replicating Ronaldo, who in turn made this gesture in 2017 in reply to Lionel Messi’s celebration of a goal he struck against Real Madrid in an El Clasico prior.

Post-match, Vinicus stayed humble about the result, with absolute confidence, expressing the club’s reason behind the comeback and victory to Moviestar+ (as per Bein Sports), “It’s normal. We’re figuring out how we’re going to play, and the coach wants to make the games easier for us. In the second half, we changed the formation and the dynamic. It’s our competition, and we want to win it again,”

It’s going to be a very important week for the Brazilian star, as they are going to battle FC Barcelona next, following which the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held on October 28, where the Real Madrid No. 7 is a star contender, with his heroics since last season. He however avoided talking about the awards yesterday.

What happened in the Champions League game between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund?

Real Madrid came from a two-goal trail in the first half to make an epic come-back in the second, eventually ending the game with a 5-2 win against last season’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund. The Real Madrid winger scored a hattrick with the goals being struck at 63’, 86’, 90+3’ minute. This was his first hat trick in the UEFA Champions League. He was also judged the most valuable player (MVP) of the game.

After the match ended, he was asked about his contract renewal with the Spanish club, to which he said, “I leave it to the people. They can say whatever they want, I’m happy when the fans sing my name,” He also expressed his desire to “stay forever” at the club.
