English Premier League Highlights: Key Moments from Gameweek 14

Gameweek 14 saw many top clubs go head-to-head against each other. Ange Postcglou’s Tottenham took on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium while Newcastle went toe-to-toe against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at St. James’ Park.

Many important results could have a massive impact on shaping the League Table as the League progresses in coming Gameweeks.

Thriller at The Anfield

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were involved in arguably the best game of the entire game and the season so far as they took on Fulham at their fortress, Anfield. Bernd Leno’s own goal and Alexis Mac Allister’s belter were both canceled out in the first half by Fulham’s Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete.

As the second half of the game progressed, the game was beautifully poised at 2-2 with Liverpool in the hunt for the winner and the three points, but to their despair, Bobby Decordova-Reid gave the lead to Fulham in the 80th leaving the Reds with just 10 minutes of regulation time to find two goals to win the three points.

In the 87th minute of the game, it was the 30-year-old Wataru Endo who stepped up for Liverpool with a crisp finish from outside the box to level the game at 3-3. Not a minute in, Liverpool’s hero, Trent-Alexander Arnold, who found the equalizer at the Etihad last week, successfully slotted the ball in to make it 4-3 to the Reds. Anfield roared in joy once again as Jurgen’s snatched victory from the jaws of victory making it a night to remember.

Stalemate at The Etihad, once again.

Pep’s City were involved in a six-goal thriller at the weekend as they took on Ange Postecglou’s Tottenham at The Etihad. With a third consecutive draw this season, the defending champions have slipped to third place in the League Table.

The game ended with a controversial 3-3 scoreline but it wasn’t the goals that were the talking point of the game. After Dejan Kulusevski’s equalizer in the 90th minute, City were relatively furious and were still looking for a winner with just four minutes of added time left on the clock.

In the final minute of stoppage time, the referee Simon Hooper, played an advantage for a foul on Erling Haaland in City’s half that put Jack Grealish clean through on goal but went on to blow the whistle for the foul in the very next second. This left some bitter taste in City players’ mouths, especially Erling Haaland, who was caught fuming on the referee as it could’ve proved to be an important winner for the Blues.

Newcastle United went sixth while Arsenal clear at the Top.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United just seem to be unstoppable at the moment. With a 1-0 win against the Red Devils over the weekend, The Magpies overtake Erik ten Hag’s men to grab the sixth position in the league.

With 26 points now, Newcastle are well within reach of the top 4, a point behind fifth-placed Tottenham and three behind Unai Emery’s Aston Villa who also dropped points over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners were comfortable in getting the three points as they bested Wolves 2-1 at the Emirates stadium. Goals from Bukayo Saka and Odegaard saw Arsenal take an early 2-0 lead.

Later on in the second half Marc Cunha was successful in getting a goal back but that was that as they failed to find an equalizer. Arsenal are now two points clear at the top followed by Liverpool, Manchester City, and Aston Villa.

With games coming up thick and fast, all teams would be looking to switch gears to reach the next level. Gameweek 15 promises some existing clashes as well with Chelsea facing rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa taking on Manchester City.
