Raphinha Transfer News: Forward dismisses rumours surrounding a move to Saudi Arabia

Despite signing for Barcelona after an impressive 2021/22 season for Leeds United, Raphinha has struggled to thrive in Spain with the La Liga giants. Instead, his debut season at the Camp Now saw many criticize his performances especially after he just contributed to 14 goals in the league. That extends to 21 goals across all competitions with the Brazilian netting just 11 goals.

However, the 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, especially with several other stars from La Liga swapping Spain for the Saudi Pro League. But no move materialized and Raphinha stayed at Barcelona, with 18 goal contributions so far. That includes his first goals in the Champions League as the forward netted a brace against PSG in the quarter-finals.

Those goals proved crucial for Barcelona as they walked away from the first leg with a 3-2 win over their Parisian rivals. Yet, with the Catalan giants struggling for funds and still in a financial crisis, it has seen reports emerge, re-linking Raphinha with a €100m to the Saudi Pro League. However, in his post-match interview, the 27-year-old refuted any claims of a potential move.

The forward has been a key part of Xavi Hernandez’s squad this season but with the Spaniard leaving his post as Barcelona’s manager at the end of the season, the situation could change. Yet, Raphinha went on to assert that he wants to see his contract out and will do what he can to stay at the club as it was his dream to play for them.

“I have a few more years on my contract and I plan to fulfill them, I have already said many times that signing for Barcelona was a dream, and I will do everything possible to stay here for many years,” Raphinha said, reported Goal.
