The Dutch International has marked a significant impact on the game with his on-field contributions, helping Liverpool to win multiple silverware such as the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

This time, Virgil van Dijk aims to extend his legacy off the field with the introduction of a youth level academy tournament to provide a world class platform to the next generation of talents in collaboration with his boyhood club academy, Willem II.

The former Saint’s centre-back voiced his joy stating, “I feel strongly about inspiring others and want to give the next generation of players a proper platform to perform. The best pitches, facilities and officials”.

In addition to some of the most elite youth academies in Europe, such as Liverpool, Ajax, PSG, and Arsenal, will take part in the competition later this year. Alongside Van Dijk’s former club’s academies, Groningen, Celtic, and Southampton.
