Bukayo Saka Injury Update: When will the Englishman return to action for Arsenal after being taken off in the clash between Chelsea?
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka suffered a setback with an injury during their premier league match against Chelsea. The 23-year old English winger was taken after a challenge from Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. Speaking to the media after the game, manager, Mikel Arteta said that “It doesn’t look good and I I don’t know whether to expect them to be fit (for international duty).”
Saka was pretty much restricted in the game by the Chelsea defenders. Around the 81st minute Marc Cucurella committed a crunching tackle, which forced the winger to leave the pitch.
How did Bukayo Saka get injured?
Bukayo Saka tried playing a one-two with his English teammate, Ben White but was on the receiving end of a clattering challenge by Cucurella. The match referee Michael Oliver continued to play advantage for the Gunners before issuing a yellow card for the Spanish defender.
Saka tried to get back to his position but was clearly in pain. As a result he signalled to the substitutes’ bench for some medical treatment. He eventually hobbed off the pitch with his hands over his face to make way for Brazillian attacker Gabriel Jesus.
Arsenal and Chelsea’s clash end with a draw
The London derby ended with a 1-1 draw at the Stamford Bridge keeping both the sides on the same points in the Premier league table. It was a balanced game with both the sides enjoying their chances and possession. Arsenal took the lead through Gabriel Martinelli but Pedro Neto equalised for the hosts with a shot from distance.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer had a great chance early in the game but his third minute shot was tipped over by David Raya. Kai Havertz on the other hand thought he might have scored the second goal for his team after he latched on to a speedily take free kick and sent the ball across Robert Sanchez into the bottom corner but VAR ruled out that goal.
Currently, both the teams are nine points behind league leaders, Liverpool as the league pauses for an international break. Defeats against Bournemouth and Newcastle United have been a blow for Mikel Arteta’s side in the pursuit of the league title. A draw in the London derby leaves both the team third and fourth with similar points. Manchester City are placed second with 23 points while, Liverpool are top with 28 points
