Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool Player Ratings: Mo Salah’s brace earn The Reds a fascinating win over The Cherries

Liverpool have managed to do it again and are now 9 points clear at the top after a win over AFC Bournemouth. They pulled off a 2-0 win thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah.

The Reds were finding it hard to score today but got a helping hand after Lewis Cook tripped Cody Gakpo inside the box. Mohamed Salah stepped up to score from the spot and then curled one in to seal the deal in the second half of the match. Here are the Bournemouth vs Liverpool player ratings from the game.

Goalkeeper

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7: Did well to keep Bournemouth in the game but there was very little he could do about the two goals. Made 5 saves, and was confident inside the box.

Defenders

Lewis Cook – 5.5: The make-shift defender’s accidental contact with Gakpo opened things up for Liverpool. His mistake may as be highlighted as the turning point of the match.

Illia Zabarnyi – 7: He was brilliant against Gakpo and then handled Nunez well. He never let the Liverpool forwards out of his sights.

Dean Huijsen – 7: Another solid performance and did well to handle Salah as well. However, he did not get the help needed from Kerkez.

Milos Kerkez – 6: He was unable to do much in the match today and was having a tough time going up and down as he needed to keep thinking about Salah’s position.

Midfielders

Ryan Christie – 7: He sat in front of his defenders and helped build things up from the back. His passing was brilliant today but could not do much to impact the scoreline.

Tyler Adams – 6: He was all over the pitch but never managed to create a chance today. He hardly got into the final third and was chasing the Liverpool midfield most of the time.

David Brooks – 7: He could not do anything today and was taken off right after the hour mark. He created one chance but failed to get any shot away.

Forwards

Justin Kluivert – 7: The forward has been in red-hot form but missed an easy chance today. He missed the open goal at 1-0 and Mohamed Salah made him pay minutes later.

Antoine Semenyo – 6.5: Not his game today as he could not do much on the pitch. He took as many as six shots in the game, but only two were on target.

Dango Ouattara – 5.5: Arguably the worst player on the pitch. He was the hat trick hero last week but managed to get just one shot away today, and that, too, was off target.

Substitutes

Marcus Tavernier – 6.5

Daniel Jebbison – 6

Manager

Andoni Iraola – 8: He got his tactics right but the Liverpool players were just a tad bit better to get the win today.

Goalkeeper

Alisson – 8: The goalkeeper stood tall and did well whenever he was called into action. A real game-changer for the Reds in the defensive third.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.5: He could not do much today and had to be taken off with a reported injury in the 70th minute. Liverpool fans will be hoping that it is nothing serious and he is back for the Merseyside derby during the midweek.

Ibrahima Konate – 7: He did well to handle the Bournemouth attacks and never gave them a chance to shoot properly. He was always on their toes and ensured that they were never given any space.

Virgil van Dijk – 6.5: There was nothing much needed from him as Konate was dominating the match today. Robertson also had his flank covered most of the time and thus Van Dijk was hardly needed.

Andy Robertson – 7.5: He was up and down the left flank and was ready to get on the ball when needed. Never looked out of position and had Justin Kluivert second-guessing most of the time.

Midfielders

Ryan Gravenberch – 6.5: He sat back and controlled the game. He was excellent on the ball and never looked like he played a bad pass.

Alexis Max Allister – 6: He was lucky to stay on the pitch as Bournemouth would argue that he should have been sent off early in the second half. He was taken off at the hour mark to ensure he was available for the Merseyside derby.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 7.5: He was all over the pitch and easily one of the best players despite not getting a goal or an assist. He was creating chances but did not get the help from the forwards.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah – 8.5: He was not at his best but still managed to walk away with two goals – one from the spot and one from inside the box to seal the win. He stayed forward and hardly got out of his position.

Cody Gakpo – 7: He was not about get much from the match and also finished with a goal or an assist. He was taken off at the 70th minute as he could not make an impact today.

Luis Diaz – 6.5: He tried a lot but never managed to get things going in the final third. He had two good chances but failed to score from inside the six-yard box.
