Steven Gerrard shares special family update

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has shared a very special update about his family on his social media. The former midfielder often does this, making sure his fans get a regular look into his personal as well as professional life. Gerrard is presently the manager of Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, Gerrard took to his Instagram stories to repost a story from his wife Alex. The picture showed their son Lio on his way to his first football tournament and was captioned “Off on his first footy tournament @StevenGerrard” with a football and plane emoji.

This will be a very proud moment for Gerrard as he would hope that his son could perhaps one day become a footballer and follow in his footsteps. In 2024, a video of the 7-year-old Lio playing football went viral online. In the clip that was first posted on Instagram, Lio flicking the ball in the air before executing a quite impressive bicycle kick. Owing to this clip, a lot of people online, in particular Liverpool started anticipating him becoming like his illustrious father.

Lio was born in 2017, after which Gerrard announced that his family was now complete. Recently, there was another special update from his family, because his daughter, Lilly Gerrard who is 20, announced that she was expecting her first child. This means that Gerrard will become a grandfather, aged 45.

Professionally, however, Gerrard isn’t having a similarly good time, as his Al Ettifaq team are 11th in the Saudi Pro League. They have the best players like Georgino Wijnaldum, Karl Toko Ekambi, Demarai Gray, and Moussa Dembele but it hasn’t translated to performances on the pitch.
