Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, created the Evil Within series, and if that isn’t enough to entice you, the game’s terrifying setting will.

The Evil Within 2 tops our best horror games PC list because it successfully modernized Japanese horror, making it less janky and more approachable. While the original game is enjoyable in its own right, the sequel employs some memorable psychological terror tactics.

Resident Evil 7 was a breath of new air in an otherwise stagnant franchise. While it isn’t the only Resident Evil entry on our list of the best horror games, it does add a much-needed current grasp of horror movies and games to the franchise while maintaining its distinct Resident Evil vibe.
Moving the perspective from third to first person made the horror feel closer and more urgent, paving the path for a really terrifying VR experience in the game.

2. Soma
Frictional’s underwater sci-fi horror masterwork much exceeds its earlier work on Amnesia in my opinion. Soma features the same hide-and-seek terror with an oppressive atmosphere, but the highlight is its high-concept sci-fi storyline.
Its convoluted plot is reminiscent of the works of Philip K. Dick and Harlan Ellison: a musing on how far the human soul can bend before being irreparably destroyed, as well as our own potential to violate everything good and moral about ourselves. Don’t read anything else about it before loading (except our review), and you’ll thank me later.

OpenGL 3.3 Storage: 25 GB available space Additional Notes: Integrated Intel graphics are not supported. They should work (Intel HD 4000-series or better), but with issues. |
