Top 5 Best FPL Midfielders to Pick in GW 18
Rank | Player | Club | Price | Points | GW18 Opponents |
1 | Mo Salah | Liverpool | £13.5m | 177 points | Leicester City |
2 | Cole Palmer | Chelsea | £11.3m | 131 points | Fulham |
3 | Phil Foden | Manchester City | £9.1m | 30 points | Everton |
4 | Martin Odegaard | Arsenal | £8.3m | 38 points | Ipswich Town |
5 | Mo Kudus | West Ham | £6.2m | 44 points | Southampton |
5. Mo Kudus – West Ham | 44 points | £6.2m
West Ham United has found form very hard to come by this season. Inconsistency has stricken them heavily but there is one player who has comparatively had a better time. Mo Kudus is without a doubt the best player that the Hammers have. He carries the team forward and he is the one who looks the most threatening most weeks. The Ghanaian might only have 3 goals and 1 assist in the league so far. But in recent weeks, he’s been in really good form, with a goal and an assist in his last 3 games. This weekend, West Ham play a poor Southampton team, who could be in for a big performance from Kudus.

4. Martin Odegaard – Arsenal | 38 points | £8.3m
Martin Odegaard is Arsenal’s captain and his absence showed on the team earlier this season. With his return to the team, the Gunners have been much, much better. However, it is now that he needs to cover for another injury, that to Bukayo Saka. Saka’s hamstring injury will keep him out will several weeks. The Norwegian thus will have to take over the creative and perhaps even the goalscoring mantle from the Englishman. He already has a goal and two assists in the league this season but if Arsenal are to keep up their form, he will have to multiply that over the next few weeks. This weekend, Arsenal play lowly Ipswich Town and will be expected to score quite a few.
3. Phil Foden – Manchester City | 30 points | £9.1m
At the moment, it does seem very difficult to consider Manchester City assets for your Fantasy Premier League team. But the team has too much talent to keep struggling. Manchester City have lost 9 times and won 1 in their previous 12 games. Phil Foden is someone who has copped quite a bit of criticism in this run. But he has been better of late. He scored in the loss against Aston Villa and looked dangerous in the derby loss against Manchester United. Last year’s PFA player of the year, Foden only has a goal and an assist. However, with City playing Everton this weekend and having several good fixtures coming up, Foden is a gamble worth making.
2. Cole Palmer – Chelsea | 131 points | £11.3m
Cole Palmer has been incredibly productive over the last few seasons. While some may have viewed last season as an exception due to his 33-goal contributions in the league. He has proven all of them wrong with 14 already this season. Chelsea is on a quest for a Premier League title under Enzo Maresca, and it’s hard to dispute that their title pursuit is being spearheaded by Palmer, regardless of how improbable the accomplishment might be. There are no signs that another major Fantasy Premier League haul isn’t forthcoming as a sharp Chelsea team prepares to face Fulham. Palmer drew a blank last weekend against Everton and will be expected to come good this weekend.
1. Mo Salah – Liverpool | 177 points | £13.5m
Mo Salah has garnered more points in Fantasy Premier League than any other player this season thus far, and this is unlikely to shift in the near future. He was also the first player to exceed the 100 points mark this season. Salah’s reliability is remarkable, having delivered significant returns in each of his last 10 matches. There have been just two games up to this point in the season where he has not had a strong return. He has already netted 15 goals and supplied 11 assists in the Premier League this season, outpacing any other player at this point in the history of the league. He destroyed Spurs last weekend and this weekend, it might well be the turn of newly promoted Leicester City to face the carnage.
As we turn our attention to Gameweek 18, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester City and Everton. Manchester City have been struggling immensely and any win at the moment looks difficult to come by. Everton on the other hand have been difficult to score against but also difficult to score.
The deadline for GW18 is on December 26th.
