It is worth debating how much of a longer rope you can give to the Manchester City players in your Fantasy League Team. Their form just does not seem to improve despite everything and it’s now 1 win in 12 matches across all competitions after a terrible run of fixtures. Form has deserted Erling Haaland too but he still remains the top scorer in the Premier League. Anything positive that does come from City though, is likely to come from the Norwegian. Although they have kept a lot of clean sheets recently, City has all the tools to dismantle this week’s opponents Everton.

4. Chris Wood – Nottingham Forest | 92 points | £6.6m

Chris Wood is a forward who is currently having an excellent season. When speaking of forwards alone, only Erling Haaland surpasses him in overall points this season in Fantasy Premier League. Wood has played a crucial role as Nottingham Forest has climbed to 4th place in the Premier League standings. He has netted 10 goals in the Premier League to date and has been a significant factor in this improvement in form compared to the last two seasons. This weekend, Forest faces a very leaky Tottenham side who have conceded a lot, including 6 this weekend.

3. Gabriel Jesus – Arsenal | 36 points | £6.8m

Gabriel Jesus looked like a man whose Arsenal career had left him behind, until recently. However, as Christmas arrives, Jesus seems to be reborn. He had barely found the back of the net, throughout 2024 as the emergence of Kai Havertz as Arsenal’s striker and the Brazilian’s own injuries had left him very much an afterthought in Mikel Arteta’s side. That being said, he has found the back on the net 5 times in 2 games in the last week, all against Crystal Palace. He is sure to start again this weekend against Ipswich Town and will be expected to score.

2. Nicolas Jackson- Chelsea | 91 points | £8.3m

Last season, in his first season at Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson was often criticised for being inconsistent, especially when it came to finishing chances. However, this season, he has managed to turn it all around. He has already found the net 9 times along with 4 assists in the Premier League this time around. Along with the rest of Chelsea’s youthful attack, he has created a threatening partnership, and he has risen to the occasion during this season. Chelsea has demonstrated considerable progress this season, and are more or less in the title race. Chelsea take on local rivals Fulham this weekend, and although the Cottagers have done well, Chelsea will be expected to find the back of the net.

1. Alexander Isak – Newcastle | 97 points | £9.0m

Alexander Isak is an exceptional footballer. He is a tall forward but plays with the elegance of a smooth winger. This season has been an odd one for Newcastle as they have had difficulty establishing any real consistency, although they have displayed flashes of brilliance numerous times. The Swedish forward has netted 10 goals this season and provided 4 assists, but recently he has reached impressive form. He has delivered good performances in each of the last four matches, including a stellar hat trick last weekend against Ipswich Town. This weekend, Newcastle will be facing an Aston Villa team that has had defensive issues this season. Anticipate Isak to find the back of the net, given his form.

As we turn our attention to Gameweek 18, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester City and Everton. Manchester City have been struggling immensely and any win at the moment looks difficult to come by. Everton on the other hand have been difficult to score against but also difficult to score.

The deadline for GW18 is on December 26th.
