Bayer Leverkusen vs Inter Milan: Player Ratings as Mukiele Secures Dramatic Late Win

Bayer Leverkusen have done it again as they steal a win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. The match looked set for a goalless draw when Nordi Mukiele scored in the 90th minute to seal a dramatic 1-0 win.

The goal was not just the only one of the match but also the only one they have conceded in the six matches this season. They can count themselves unlucky in terms of dropping a point more than three as they never got into the final third enough to get all three points.

Matej Kovar – 7.5: The goalkeeper could have kept his gloves at home today as he did not have to make a save today. He was just passing the ball around and helping them keep the ball rolling at the back.

Defenders

Nordi Mukiele – 9: He started the match as a right-back but was playing as a right-winger most of the match. Right place at the right moment at the very end and scored the winner in the 90th minute.

Jonathan Tah – 7: Stayed back and helped them keep possession of the ball when needed. The defender did not have to do anything to keep the Inter Milan players at bay.

Edmond Tapsoba – 7.5: The defender was ready to drive forward at every chance and kept the ball moving on the right flank.

Piero Hicapie – 7: He stayed up front most of the time and did not have to do in defense. He was more involved in the final third but his crosses were not good enough in the game.

Midfielders

Exequiel Palacios – 7.5: Got close to scoring in the first half but his shot was blocked with ease. He was the engine in the midfield and kept the ball moving.

Granit Xhaka – 8.5: He was playing right behind the Bayer Leverkusen attackers and ensuring that they were getting chances. He stayed right outside the box and could have easily got an assist or two.

Jeremie Frimpong – 6.5: The Dutchman was not at his best today and could not get past Bastoni a lot. He had significantly fewer touches than his teammates but still kept trying until the end.

Florian Wirtz – 7: A game where he will be thinking about where he could have improved as he looked like the busy bee in the midfield but his shots were tame and the passing was very safe.

Alejandro Grimaldo – 7.5: He was active on the left flank but just like Wirtz, he could not impact the game much despite his best efforts.

Forwards

Nathan Tella – 6: He started up front but did not get a single shot on target today. Played over 80 minutes but never looked like he was going to get on the scoresheet.

Manager

Xabi Alonso – 7: The manager played the perfect XI and decided to stick with the team for over 80 minutes though they were locked goalless.

Yann Sommer – 7.5: The goalkeeper made 4 saves today but will be devastated with the goal he conceded at the very end.  

Defender

Yann Bisseck – 6.5: The German was immense in the defense and should have got the clean sheet today. However, he was brilliant and there was little he could do about the goal.  

Stefan de Vrij – 7: Made a stunning block late in the game before the goal was scored. His passing was spot on and he misplaced just one pass.

Alessandro Bastoni – 7: He spent most of the time in the Inter box as Bayer Leverkusen were pressing them back.

Midfielders

Matteo Darmian – 6: He played the whole match but hardly got on the ball.

Davide Frattesi – 5.5: He played just over an hour but never got involved in the game today.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 7.5: It was yet another typical Hakan performance today as he was all over the pitch and trying to make things happen. Created two good chances, but it was not converted.

Piotr Zielinski – 7: The Inter Miami star played the whole game and was one of their better players. However, he did not get a single shot away not did he create a chance.

Carlos Augusto – 6: Picked up an unnecessary booking in the first half and that was the only time he was noticed by the Inter Milan fans today. Up and down the pitch but never managed to do anything.

Forwards

Mehdi Taremi – 6: The striker played 85 minutes and did not get a single shot on target and his only effort was blocked.

Marcus Thuram – 4: No shot today and he was just roaming about waiting to get on the ball but hardly got any touch where he was needed.
