Atalanta 2-1 AC Milan player ratings as the black and blues climb to the top of the Serie A table with their ninth consecutive league victory

Atalanta secured their ninth consecutive league victory after defeating AC Milan 2-1 on Friday at the Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo in Italy with the help of Ademola Lookman’s 87th minute header. This win placed them at the top of the Serie A table ahead of Napoli, who are two points behind with a game in hand.

Milan clearly lacked some intent in the game as it seemed they were here just for a point. Morata levelled it for the visitors after they went behind due to Charles De Ketelaere’s goal. They would consider themselves unlucky after Christian Pulisic had to be substituted after he suffered an injury. The United States international Christian Pulisic got an opportunity to score only a few seconds into the game, but Marco Carnesecchi denied his close-range effort. Around the 87th minute Ademola Lookman scored the winner off a corner to gain full three points for Atalanta.

Isak Hien: 6.5/10- Capped a good defensive display at the heart of the defence for his team with 95 percent passing accuracy. He made five recoveries for his team and had won three duels during the whole game.

Sead Kolasinac: 7.7/10- Assisted the second goal for his team with a flick from the corner setting it up for Lookman. In defence he was involved in three defensive actions and made four recoveries for his team.

Matteo Ruggeri: 7.2/10- He had a fair display as a left wing back for his side contributing in both defence as well as attack. Mario Pasalic: 7.6/10- Had a good game as an attacker managing four shots on goal. He maintained a passing accuracy of 92 percent and helped the team in creating a chance in attack. He linked up with Lookman on the left but Milan was quick enough to sniff out the danger.

Charles De Ketelaere: 7.8/10- His presence in the opposition penalty area was threatening. Met with an excellent in-swinging free-kick from the left by De Roon to score the first goal for his team. Received the first yellow card of the match due to his shove over Musah.

Ademola Lookman: 7.7/10- Had a great game for his side in attack with five shots on goal. He fired a shot around the end of the first half but went wide. Scores the winner for his side around the 87th minute. After a flick from Klosinac, he nodded the ball just inside the far post to make it 2-1.

Substitutes

Lazar Samardzic: 6.8/10- Subbed in place of Pasalic around the 76th minute and was very active in the attacking third for the team.

Odilon Kossounou: 6.2/10- Brought in place of Berat Djimsiti in the central defence and did not have much of an impact.

Meteo Retegui: 6.1/10- He replaced the goal scorer Charles De Ketelaere in the game. Around the end of the game he had a great shot on goal which was denied by Maignan.

Goalkeeper

Mike Maignan: 6.4/10- Had a good game making six saves for his team but conceded two which in turn did not help the result of the game. He made a smart stop around the 34th minute to stop Pasalic from scoring. He also kept the scores level after pulling off a great save off substitute Samardzic’s shot.

Defenders

Emerson Royal: 6.6/10- The right-back had a decent game maintaining a passing accuracy of 91 per cent. He was involved in 15 defensive actions and made seven recoveries for his tea,. Along with that he won nine duels on the right side of the defence.

Matteo Gabbia: 6.4/10- Had a fair game for his team. He was involved in nine defensive actions for his team. He made a crucial block around the 24th minute after Lookman unleashed a powerful strike on the edge of Milan’s area.

Malick Thiaw: 6.4/10- Maintained a passing accuracy of 96 per cent and was somewhat solid at defence. In some situations, his decision-making could be questioned but had a fair game. He was involved in nine defensive actions and made five clearances for his side.

Theo Hernandez: 5.6/10- The Skipper had a poor game on the left side of the defence. He did not manage well between the attack and defence which allowed Milan defence to be exposed multiple times. He had two shots on goal and was involved in only three defensive actions.

Youssouf Fofana: 6.0/10- The French midfielder did not have a great game at the centre of the pitch. He was involved in just three defensive actions and made three recoveries for the team.

Tijjani Reijnders: 6.3/10- He put a great low cross-shot which fell into a channel between Morata and the far post but eventually tolled over the byline.

Christian Pulisic: 6.4/10- He seemed to have suffered an ankle injury and was not able to continue on the pitch. He had a fair 38 minutes on the pitch and had a shot on goal during that span of time.

Attackers

Yunus Musah: 7.0/10- Had a positive impact in the game but was not able to lead his team to a victory. He made a block near the byline, cutting out Ruggeri’s cross from the left around the eight minute. 

Rafael Leao: 7.5/10- The Portuguese winger looked dangerous at time but was not able to captitalise on number of occasions. Assisted the first goal for his team. He raced up the left wing and then fired across a low cross for Morata to convert.

Alvaro Morata: 7.5/10- Had a good game for his team maintaining 88 percent of passing accuracy. He levelled the scoring for AC Milan. The Spanish striker finished the job by sweeping the ball home from close range

Ruben Loftus-Cheek- 7.0/10- Brought in place of injured Christian Pulisic around the 38th minute.

Paulo Fonesca: 5/10- He would be very disappointed with the performance Milan put up in the game. They looked very much out of place as attacks were not falling into place leading to a lot of problems.
