Brentford vs Nottingham Forest: Preview, Team News, Lineups, H2H, Prediction, Odds and Telecast

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest Match Preview:

Tournament – Premier League

Date – Saturday, January 20

Kick-off Time – 11:00 pm IST

Venue – GTech Community Stadium

Brentford will host Nottingham Forest at the GTech Community Stadium in the Premier League on January 20.

Both sides have struggled this season and sit perilously close to the relegation zone. Brentford began their campaign decently but have had a tough time since. They have lost 10 of their 19 Premier League games, drawn four, and won just five of them.

The Bees are 16th in the standings, just three points above the relegation zone with a game in hand. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are one place and one point above Brentford, having played one more game than them.

The Tricky Trees have also lost 10 and won five of their 10 league games this season, drawing five. Their poor form saw Steve Cooper getting sacked and Chris Wilder returning as the permanent manager earlier this season.

Both sides crucially need points and the upcoming game could prove to be a double-pointer for one of them.

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest Team News

The big news for Brentford is the return of striker Ivan Toney following his eight-month ban for breaking gambling rules. However, the Bees are missing a number of key players.

Yoane Wissa (Congo) and Frank Onyeka (Nigeria) are on international duty at AFCON. Meanwhile, Ji-Soo Kim (Korean Republic) and Saman Ghoddos (Iran) are competing in the AFC Asian Cup.

Brentford are also missing Bryan Mbeumo, Rico Henry, Shandon Baptiste, Mathias Jensen, Kristoffer Ajer, Kevin Schade, Christian Norgaard, and Aaron Hickey due to injuries.

Nottingham Forest are also without a number of players due to AFCON and AFC Asian Cup. They include Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Willy Boly (Ivory Coast), Ola Aina (Nigeria), Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal), Ibrahim Sangare (Ivory Coast), and Moussa Niakhate (Senegal).

Meanwhile, Taiwo Awoniyi and Divock Origi are out injured. Anthony Elanga and Felipe are doubtful for the Nottingham clash.

Prediction

Brentford are in terrible form and need points desperately. They have lost their last five Premier League games and are without a win in their last seven games across competitions. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in their last game, losing 3-2 against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their third-round replay.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have shown a resurgence in recent times and have won three of their last four games across competitions. They beat Newcastle United and Manchester United in their last two Premier League clashes.

With both sides missing many key players, it’s hard to predict. However, with Ivan Toney’s return and home advantage, Brentford could nick this one with a narrow margin.

Predicted Score: Brentford 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest Players to Watch Out For

Brentford

Ivan Toney is definitely the player to watch out for in this game. The English striker is returning to action after eight months and will look to make a big impact.

Toney scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 33 league games last season and Brentford have certainly missed him. Moreover, with the likes of Wissa and Mbeumo out of action, the English striker will need to take more attacking responsibility for his side.

Nottingham Forest

For Nottingham Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White will be the player to watch. The attacking midfielder has scored just three goals and provided three assists in 22 games across competitions this season.

However, the numbers don’t justify his impact as most of Nottingham’s attacking play goes through Gibbs-White. Moreover, in Elanga’s absence, the Englishman will need to create more for Chris Wood.
