Manchester United looking to sign Vinicius Jr. in an audacious move

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Manchester United are planning to make a statement signing in the form of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius has developed into a key player for Real Madrid since joining them from Flamengo in 2018. He has made 241 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 68 goals and providing 68 assists, helping them win numerous trophies.

The Brazilian winger recently signed a new contract with the club, which expires in 2027. It appears unlikely that he would leave anytime soon.

However, Defensa Central has claimed that Manchester United are willing to offer a huge amount of €150 million to Real Madrid for Vinicius’ signature. This could lure Los Blancos’ president Fiorentino Perez into selling the Brazilian as they are looking to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

Mbappe has been linked with the Merengues for many years now. With his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expiring in the summer, Real Madrid are again in the hunt to sign the Frenchman.

Mbappe has said that he prefers to play on the left wing, which would mean competing with Vinicius at the Santiago Bernabeu. Hence, a potential Vinicius departure could open up the space for the Frenchman and also help Perez finance his arrival in the summer.

However, it’s still unlikely that Vinicius will leave Real Madrid. The Brazilian winger has been in good form this season. He recently scored a hat-trick against arch-rivals Barcelona in Los Blancos’ 4-1 win in the Supercopa de Espana.

Having suffered from an injury issue earlier this season, the Brazilian winger has found back his form as acknowledged by manager Carlo Ancelotti, who said:

“Vinicius is back to his best. He scored in a different way in the Clásico and he is learning to play more inside and that makes him more dangerous because it makes him much less predictable. He’s combining very well with Rodrygo. I liked what he said more than the three goals.”

Vinicius has contributed nine goals and four assists in 16 games this season. Meanwhile, all of Manchester United’s forwards have combined for just 18 goals.
