Tottenham 2-2 AS Roma Player Ratings: Mile Svilar Shines as Spurs Settle for Draw

Tottenham have themselves to blame after sharing points with AS Roma on Thursday. They could have easily collected all three points but were held to a 2-2 draw.

Heung-Min Son scored from the spot early in the game before Evan Ndicka pulled one back for the quickly. Brenan Johnson restored the lead before half time and it looked like Spurs were set to hang on but Mats Hummels had other plans and scored in second half injury time.

Goalkeeper

Fraser Forster – 8: Did well to keep Tottenham in the game and made a spectacular save right at the very end before they conceded the second goal.

Defender

Pedro Porro – 7.5: Was shooting for fun today and came close a few times. Decent defensively but could have done a lot more to support the center-backs.  

Radu Drăguşin – 6: Had a tough time managing Kone and El Shaarway when they were making the late runs into the box. Failed to win any of his fuels today and was losing possession a lot.

Ben Davies – 7: Decent match and was roaming around a lot to ensure that the AS Roma stars never got time on the ball.

Archie Gray – 7: Played a left-back today and impressed. He was always ready to pounce on the AS Roma players when they got the ball in his flank and never got drawn out of position.

Midfielders

Dejan Kulusevski – 7.5: His performance this season have been one better than the other but today, it was a step back based on the standards he has set. However, he still managed to impress and was among the best today.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6.5: Decent outing for the Uruguayan star today but he needs to be careful with his tackles. Got booked late in the game or else he would have got a better rating today.

Pape Matar Sarr – 7: Stayed back and helped the defenders today. Never looked out of position and was ensuring Spurs had control of the match when they were under pressure.

Forwards

Brennan Johnson – 7.5: Brilliant finish but he should have done a lot better with his other efforts. Despite his misses, he was the best forward for Spurs today.

Dominic Solanke – 6: Had 4-5 chances to score today but missed all his chances. He hit the post once, and was one of the main reasons why they did not get all three points.

Heung-min Son – 6: The captain scored from the spot but was sloppy in the final third. Could have done a lot more and looked isolated most of the game.

Ange Postecoglou – 7: Left the changes a bit too late. Could have tried to close the game early but was not bold enough to attack.

Mile Svilar – 9: Easily the Man Of The Match today as he was on top of his game. Made as many as 9 saves and his performance saw them get a point right at the very end.

Defenders

Gianluca Mancini – 6.5: His defensive position can be questioned today as he was way too attacking. However, he came close to scoring at the very end but was denied by a brilliant save.

Mats Hummels – 8: Scored the goal that got AS Roma the all-important goal today. Solid at the back as well and he finally has found a place in the starting XI.

Evan Ndicka – 8: Another AS Roma defender who was on top of his game today. stayed back and held his position and made things hard for Solanke and co.

Midfielders

Zeki Çelik – 6.5: Hardly got involved as he was isolated on the right flank. Played just over 60 mintues before he was hooked off.

Leandro Paredes – 7.5: Got booked for delaying a restart in the first half but never let it bother him. Played a brilliant game and was excellent in the midfield.

Manu Koné – 7: Played an attacking role in the second half and was making excellent runs into the box. Scored once, but was ruled out as Dovbyk was offside in the buildup.

Angeliño – 8: Came close to scoring once as he hit the post. Was up and down the left-flank making things hard for the Tottenham players.

Forwards

Paulo Dybala – 8: Did well in the first half but was taken off at half-time. It did not look like a tactical change, so AS Roma fans might be worried that it is an injury.

Stephan El Shaarawy – 6.5: Scored a really good goal early in the first half but it was ruled out for offside. He was isolated after that and never managed to get another shot away in the 69 minutes he played.

Artem Dovbyk – 6: Scored twice but both were ruled out for offside. He was making the correct runs, but just a tad bit early.
