Ipswich Town vs Manchester United Player Ratings: Amad Shines, Casemiro Struggles in 1-1 Draw
Manchester United’s era under Ruben Amorim has got off to a decent start. The new manager had to settle for a draw at Ipswich Town in his first match in charge despite taking the lead very early in the match.
It took just 81 seconds for Manchester United to take the lead, thanks to Marcus Rashford. Amad did all the hard work for the Red Devils with a brilliant run down the right flank before putting in an inch-perfect cross.
However, their lead did not last until halftime, as Omai Hutchinson scored a stunner with some help from Noussair Mazraoui. The scoreline remained intact until the end and the two sides ended up sharing points.
Here are the player ratings from Ipswich Town vs Manchester United:
Ipswich Town player ratings vs Manchester United
Goalkeeper
Arijanet Murić – 7: Had to make just three saves today, and he was hardly troubled by the Manchester United players. He should have done better for the goal as he was slow to react.
Defenders
Axel Tuanzebe – 6.5: Not a great game for the former Manchester United defender. However, he did not make a lot of mistakes and kept Garnacho quiet the whole game.
Dara O’Shea – 7.5: The best defender on the pitch today. He was quick to close in on the Manchester United players and never gave them any space.
Cameron Burgess – 6.5: The defender spent a lot of time in the opponent’s half today as he was involved a lot in keeping possession more than doing a lot defensively.
Leif Davis – 6.5: Could have done lot better in the final third today when he made his way forward. He did give Amad a tough time defending.
Midfielders
Sam Morsy – 7: Did not have a lot to do defensively and was more involved in attack. He took a wild shot at goal and it was easily blocked.
Jens Cajuste – 7: Not great in the midfield but his best contribution was a stunning last-ditch tackle on Garnacho. He made an excellent run to the back and put the 2v1 situation out for a corner.
Wes Burns – 6.5: Got the ‘assist’ for Ipswich Town’s goal but he hardly had to do anything for it. Overall, not a bad game but he could have done a lot better.
Omari Hutchinson – 7.5: The home team’s best player today and not just because of the goal. He could have easily got on the scoresheet once again but saw his effort saved.
Sammie Szmodics – 6.5: Played just 65 minutes and should have done a lot better with his two efforts at goal.
Forward
Liam Delap – 7: Came close to scoring twice and would have found the back of the net of not for Andre Onana’s brilliance. Hardly got on the ball, but whenever he did, he was a threat.
Substitutes
Jack Taylor – 6
Jack Clarke – 6
Ali Al-Hamadi – 6
Conor Chaplin – 6
Manager
Kieran McKenna – 6
Got the starting XI spot on but the substitutions were not spot on.
Manchester United player ratings vs Ipswich Town
Goalkeeper
André Onana – 8: Made crucial saves today to help his side get a point from the match. If the goalkeeper had not stepped up, Ruben Amorim would have lost his first match in charge.
Defenders
Noussair Mazraoui – 7.5: Unlucky with the goal today but overall, he was solid and did his job to the point.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7: Decent effort from the Dutchman but he needs to work on his positioning. The Ipswich Town players were able to draw him out easily.
Jonny Evans – 6.5: Not his best effort but he did the job well today. Gave the Ipswich Town players a tough time and did not allow them time on the ball.
Midfielders
Amad Diallo – 8.5: Man of the today easily. Got the all-important assist at the start and came close to scoring the winner in the final seconds of the match.
Casemiro – 4.5: The Brazilian is just not good enough to be playing in the Premier League anymore. Had to be taken off before the hour mark as he was not able to keep pace.
Christian Eriksen – 6: Another Manchester United player who should not be in the team anymore. Just not able to keep pace and was all over the pitch chasing the ball.
Diogo Dalot – 7: Decent game as the right wing-back today and he was able to get into the right positions.
Forwards
Bruno Fernandes – 7.5: Ran the show at every chance but just did not get the support when needed. He was ready to chase the ball all the time, but no one was able to make the most of the chances he created.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5: Should be doing a lot more on the pitch and needs to be able to spot his teammates too. Looks highly selfish and his missed chance could have easily won them the game today.
Marcus Rashford – 7: Isolated from his teammates but scored with his only touch from inside the Ipswich Town box.
Substitutes
Luke Shaw – 6.5
Manuel Ugarte – 6
Rasmus Højlund – 5
Joshua Zirkzee – 5.5
Mason Mount – 5
Manager
Ruben Amorim – 6
Should have been a bit more aggressive with the starting XI and his substitutions were not timed right.
