Arsenal’s star defender Gabriel Magalhaes taken off after a knock against Liverpool
Arsenal continues to be haunted with injury scare after defender Gabriel Magalhaes had to be taken off in the second half of their 2-2 draw against Liverpool. The Brazilian centre-back went down on the pitch around the 50 minute mark and received treatment. He was their on the pitch for three more minutes but then collapsed again and manager Mikel Arteta replaced him with Jakub Kiwior.
The defender seemed to struggle after his clash with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez. The manager is already dealing with a serious injury crisis with captain Martin Odegaard, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro, Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko all currently side lined. They were also without the services of William Saliba, who was sent off during last week’s defeat to Bournemouth.
Gabriel’s injury helped Liverpool to grow in confidence and take a point back to the Anfield. Till the time he was taken off, his team was leading with a score line of 2-1 but they could not hold on to that lead for a longer time.
Gabriel Magalhaes Injury Extent
When asked about the Gabriel Magalhaes injury update, Arsenal Manager Arteta stated that “I don’t know what happened, if it was the knee joint or ankle. They are assessing him right now.” A Twitter account named FPLPhysio had given their take on the injury and predicted the amount of time the centre-back could be away from the game.
The tweet wrote, “Best case (grade one) we are looking at 1-3 weeks. If grade two, it’s more likely 4-6 weeks, and worst case (grade three) we are talking 6 weeks or more.” It also added “He was able to continue a bit so my prediction as for now is grade 1 or 2.”
