Ukraine 1-1 Czech Republic: Player ratings as Artem Dovbyk’s penalty cancels out Lukas Cerv’s early opener for the Czechs

Ukraine fought back to earn a point against the Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League as they drew 1-1 on Monday. Lukas Cerv opened the scoring for the Czechs only 18 minutes into the kick-off, but Artem Dovbyk equalized for the Blue and Yellows from the penalty spot, just minutes into the second half. With four points in four games, Ukraine remained at the bottom of Group 1 table in League B, while the Czech Republic edged closer to getting promoted to League A. Here are the player ratings:

Very minimal involvement as the Czechs didn’t have any issues drifting past him.

Was having a decent game before going off in the 22nd minute with an injury.

Didn’t add much flair to Ukraine’s offensive vanguard; neither of his shots were on target either.

Looked too sloppy in possession and misplaced a couple of passes too.

With Ukraine not threatening enough, the Czech goalkeeper had an easy game, although he couldn’t keep out Dovbyk’s penalty.

Creative inspiration for his side, laying three key passes and six crosses.

Martin Vitik – 7

Good positional awareness, timed his tackles perfectly, and made some vital clearances too.

Ladislav Krejci – 6

Lacked the pace and strength to cope with the game’s intensity.

Couldn’t make a telling impact at either ends of the field.

Dictated his side’s tempo as their deep-lying playmaker and even put the Czechs in front after 18 minutes into the kick-off.
