Bosnia vs Hungary Preview

  • Tournament: UEFA Nations League.
  • Date: Monday, October 14.
  • Time: 6:45 PM GMT.
  • Venue: Bilino Polje.

Bosnia vs Hungary will be the fourth game for both these teams in League A Group 3 of the ongoing UEFA Nations League as the bottom two teams will clash.

The hosts will enter this game on the back of a dreadful run of form. They are winless in their last nine games across competitions, recording eight defeats and one draw in that time. They have conceded an alarming 24 goals in that span and managed to score just six goals as they desperately search for a way out. They lost 2-1 to Germany in their last game and will look to better that result.

The visitors, on the other hand, only have a slightly better run of form to show for from their last eight games. They have won two, drawn two and lost four of their games in that run. Hungary have scored seven goals and conceded 13 as they too are in search of a string of positive results. They drew 1-1 in their last game against the Netherlands and will look to do one better in the next one.

Having said that, let’s take a look at the team news coming from both camps.

Bosnia National Football Team News

Manager Sergej Barbarez went with a full-strength lineup for their last game against Germany. Considering the strength and ability of their opponent, he also set the team up in a defensive 5-3-2 formation but could choose to change that in the next game against Hungary. Edin Dzeko got on the scoresheet yet again and will lead the team out once again as captain.

Hungary National Football Team News

Manager Marco Rossi fielded a strong lineup to face the Netherlands in their last game and would be pleased to walk away from that game with a 1-1 draw. However, he will have to ensure he maintains the same combination so they can put together two positive results back-to-back. Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will lead the team out as captain of the team.

Key Players to Watch

Edin Dzeko (Bosnia)

The towering striker yet again proved his mettle and big-game mentality as he scored against Germany in the last game. Although Bosnia ended up losing 2-1, his efforts momentarily brought them back in the contest but could not equalize as he had little to no support. Being the captain, Dzeko will again be in the spotlight and will be expected to perform.

Dominik Szoboszlai (Hungary)

The Liverpool midfielder will be in the spotlight in terms of expectations to lead the Hungarian effort on the pitch with his talent as well as leadership skills. Deployed in a more attacking role for his national side gives him to influence their play near the goal even more, and he will look to do just that when his team take on Bosnia next.

Bosnia vs Hungary Prediction

Considering the head-to-head record in the past, Hungary do have the upper hand with two wins to their name. Add to that the fact that Bosnia are winless in nine games, the visitors emerge as clear favourites to win this upcoming match. However, strange things can happen in football and Bosnia will at least look to get on the scoresheet.

Prediction: Bosnia 1-2 Hungary
