Alisson Becker suffers potential hamstring injury in the win against Crystal Palace

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker suffered a potential hamstring injury in the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Brazilian had to be withdrawn in the 79th minute after going down in pain, before Vitezslav Jaros replaced him in the goal. The victory saw the Reds extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table, but it was overshadowed by Alisson’s injury blow.

Slot confirms the extent of Alisson Becker injury

Alisson’s injury has struck Liverpool at the wrong time when they are flying high across all competitions. Although the international break is imminent which could allow him to recuperate, the Reds manager Arnet Slot claims that the Brazilian might be out for even longer. “The latest is that we don’t know but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means that he is not in the Brazil squad and I don’t expect him to be in the team in the first game we play after the international break. We have to wait and see, but it is going to take a few weeks I assume for him to be back. I think it is his hamstring,” said Slot.

The 32-year-old missed two games last month with a hamstring issue, hence the Reds are sweating over his latest set-back and how long it could keep him out of action. The Merseysiders have some crucial games coming up after the international break against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen and it remains to be seen how detrimental Alisson’s absence could be should he fail to recover. He has featured in 8 games across all competitions for the Reds this term, conceding only 3 goals and keeping 5 clean sheets.

Meanwhile, the Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister was also forced off with an injury at halftime, with Slot confirming it as a groin issue. The Dutch gaffer was also unsure about the extent of his injury and whether he would join the Argentine national team for the international break.
