Manchester United dealt with Mason Mount injury blow as Englishman could be out after latest setback

Manchester United will have to deal with a Mason Mount injury, with the midfielder set to spend another spell on the sidelines after picking up yet another injury recently.

As per reports from journalist Samuel Luckhurst, the Englishman picked up a knock as well as a head injury and will be sidelined.

Mason Mount injury a big blow for Manchester United

Having last appeared in Manchester United’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on September 29, Mount was expected to play a part as the fixture list gets increasingly congested. However, as per latest reports, his participation in their Europa League clash against FC Porto, followed by a tough visit to Aston Villa in the Premier League is up in the air.

Having joined from Premier League rivals Chelsea, Mason Mount injury has already kept him out for 30 games for Manchester United. That is nearly twice the number of games he missed in his entire career with the Blues, raising alarm bells over his ability to remain fit and consistent. That number could further increase with his latest injuries.

Since joining the Red Devils in July last year, Mount has made 25 appearances for the club and managed just one goal and one assist in that time. Manager Erik ten Hag will have major concerns regarding the Englishman’s fitness as he looks to pull the club out of a miserable run of form.

Bruno Fernandes’s red card appeal successful

While the club cannot seem to catch a break in terms of bad news, they will be pleased to see a positive outcome from their appeal of Bruno Fernandes’ red card against Tottenham.

The Portuguese midfielder was given his marching orders by referee Chris Kavanagh for a high tackle on Spurs’ James Maddison in the 42nd minute. His team were already down by a goal at that stage and were lucky to only have lost the game 3-0 given the way Tottenham were playing.

However, Manchester United appealed the decision to the FA and were successful, meaning Fernandes will not miss any games for the club. The FA admitted to a wrongful dismissal and rescinded the Portuguese midfielder’s red card.

Ten Hag and the Red Devils will face Porto in the Europa League followed by a trip to Villa on the weekend in the Premier League.
