Aston Villa 1-0 Bayern Munich Player Ratings as the villans edge past Bayern with a solitary goal

Aston Villa defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in the second league game of the UEFA Champions League at Villa Park after a brilliant late goal from Jhon Duran. This was Villa’s first-ever home victory in Europe’s elite club competition in the last 41 years.

Bayern dominated the proceedings for most of the game but was not clinical enough. They squandered most of their chances and Duran added on to their regret. Around the 79th-minute mark, Jhon Duran ran onto a high ball, spotted Manuel Neuer off his line, and scooped the ball over him to give Villa the lead. It came against the run of play as the visitors enjoyed two thirds of the possession and was knocking on the goal but Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was at his best yet again.
