Arsenal teenager Jack Porter makes history as youngest-ever starter at 16

The new Arsenal teenager Jack Porter has made headlines by becoming the youngest-ever player to start a senior-team game at the age of 16. On Wednesday, the goalkeeper debuted against Bolton in the English League Cup.

The youngster broke the record held by club icon Cesc Fabregas, who was 16 years 177 days against Rotherham in October 2003 on his first game, while the youth graduate is only. 16 years, 72 days old

Porter was brought in as a backup option for the number one David Raya, who missed out with a thigh injury.

Having represented England in the U-17s, he has even had the opportunity to experience top-flight action on the bench as a substitute for Arsenal versus Manchester City on Sunday.

However, he will only be the second-youngest player to represent Arsenal’s first team as Ethan Nwaneri holds the number one position after a brief substitute aged 15 years, 181 days in September 2022.

Arsenal are monitoring first-choice Spanish goalkeeper who experienced a knock in the game on Sunday.

Besides, Porter has had some chances to experience the first-team setup, during the Gunners Champions League trip to face Atalanta, where he was included on the substitutes’ bench making this selection against Bolton signaling a strong confidence in his potential.
