Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to host Rennes at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 on Friday. The Parisians did lose their superstar attacker Kylian Mbappe, as he left as a free agent and joined Real Madrid. However, they have still had an excellent start to the campaign as they look to defend their Ligue 1 title.

PSG have won four and drawn one of their five league games so far and sit atop the table. They have also begun their UEFA Champions League campaign well, beating Girona 1-0 in their opening game.

Rennes, meanwhile, have won two, lost two, and drawn one of their five league game this season. They finished 10^th last season and currently sit eighth and will look to maintain or better their position.

PSG are missing five players due to injury – Gianluigi Donnarumma, Goncalo Ramos, Lucas Hernandez, Marco Asensio, and Presnel Kimpembe.

Donnarumma, Asensio, and Kimpembe are expected to return in October this year while Ramos will return in November. Hernandez, who is recovering from an ACL injury is likely to return early next year.

Joao Neves

Despite PSG boasting of great attacking talent like Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele, it’s the young midfielder Joao Neves, who’s caught everyone’s attention. The Parisians signed the 19-year-old for around €60 million from Benfica in the summer and he’s been excellent so far.

Neves, who plays as a central midfielder, has provided five assists in five Ligue 1 games and tops the assists charts. His composure on the ball and tenacity off it has been key for PSG’s dominance this season.

Ludovic Blas

The French forward, who can play multiple positions, has mostly operated as a right winger or a centre-forward this season. He is the top scorer and top assist-provider for Rennes this season with two each in five Ligue 1 games.

Ludovic Blas has overall scored just nine goals and provided three assists in 47 games for Rennes since arriving from Nantes last summer. Hence, he will be keen to continue his good start to the season.

PSG vs Rennes Prediction

PSG have largely been excellent this season, dominating matches and offering a consistent attacking threat through different channels. They beat Le Havre, Montpellier, LOSC Lille, and Brest comfortably.
