Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich Player Ratings: Harry Kane’s goals lead to big Bundesliga win

Bayern Munich dished out a thrashing of massive proportions to newly promoted Holstein Kiel winning 1-6 away in the Bundesliga. Goals flowed with a hattrick from Harry Kane, an own goal, and one each from Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise.

The damage started in the first minute itself, with Jamal Musiala scoring once again. Harry Kane scored a brace in the first half itself. There was also an own goal in the match. The goals were a bit fortunate at times but the dominance was quite overwhelming.

The second half was equally bad for the hosts. Michael Olise kicked off the scoring. Kiel then scored but were soon pegged back once again by a late penalty from Kane.

Goalkeeper

T. Weiner — 6/10. Cut a hapless figure before the might of Bayern Munich. He had as many as 60 touches of the ball. He made 7 saves in total. This included 5 from inside the box.

Defenders

T. Becker — 4/10. Couldn’t do anything when faced with the toughest challenges in the league. Given a torrid time by Kingsley Coman. Made several tackles but caught out position-wise.

C. Johansson — 4/10. Was surprisingly decent with the ball at his feet. Misplaced only one pass out of 39. He conceded the penalty at the end from which Kane completed his hattrick.

P. Erras — 4/10. Looked all at sea against quality opposition. Kane and Musiala took him apart. Was dribbled past on three occasions. Won 0 duels in the entire game. Out of place. Taken off at HT.

D. Javorec – 4/10. Taken off at half-time. Made an error leading to a goal for Bayern Munich. Was decent however in getting the ball out, completing 4 out of 5 long balls.

Midfielders

N. Remberg — 3/10. He scored his own goal to make matters worse for the hosts. Lost the ball as many as 13 times. Completely overrun in midfield.

M. Knudsen — 6/10. A rare shining light on a dark day. The former wonderkid completed 3 of the 3 dribbles he attempted. Won most of his duels and 5 tackles.

Lewis Holtby — 4/10. Struggled a lot in and out of possession. The German made an error leading to a goal. Failed to complete any cross or long pass in a tough outing.

L. Porath — 4/10. Made only 7 passes in the 70-odd minutes that he played. Kept crossing but did not succeed at all. Looked like a deer caught in Bayern’s headlights.

Forwards

B. Pichler – 6/10. Threatened the most out of any Kiel players. Won the most fouls of anyone in the game. Won the most duels with 11. Also, hit the post once.

S. Machino — 5/10. Easily dominated by the Bayern defence. Lost the most duels. Didn’t do much in attack at all.

Substitutions

M. Geschwill – 6/10. Tried his best after coming on and made the most tackles of the game with 3.

T. Puchacz – 6/10. Assisted the goal for Kiel after coming on. Acted as somewhat of a creative force.

Jan-Fiete Arp – 5/10. The former Bayern Munich wunderkind did not have much time to make an impact after coming on.

A. Gigovic – 6/10. Scored the only goal for Kiel. A saving grace. Should have started the game.

L. Rosenboom – 5/10. Didn’t have enough time to make a real impact.

Manager

Dirk Bremser – 6/10. Could he really be blamed for this rout? There were real qualitative limitations to his side.

Goalkeeper

M. Neuer – 5/10. Should probably have done better for the Kiel goal. Might as well have been sitting in the stands for the rest of the match as he was a spectator.

Defenders

S. Boey – 7/10. Completed most of his passes. A really calm performance, although he didn’t create any chance. Dominated his wing.

D. Upamecano – 7/10. Completed 104 passes in total. Even forayed into the opponent’s box and managed two shots. Probably should have scored even.

K. Min Jae – 7/10. Utter dominance from the South Korean centre back. Recorded as many as 112 passes. 18 of those passes were into the final third. Defensively also snuffed out absolutely everything.

R. Guerrero – 7/10. That tidy performance from the former Dortmund man. Created a solitary chance in the game. He did all the damage from his flank.

Midfielders

J. Kimmich – 8/10. The metronome who ran the game. He made the most passes with a whopping 119. Created a game-high 4 chances. Two of these were big chances.

J. Palhinha – 5/10. Bayern’s weakest performer on the night. Targeted by Pichler and lost the most duels with 12. Poor night for the new Bayern player.

S. Gnabry – 7/10. A good game after some time for the Bayern winger. Was unstoppable for Kiel. Took 4 shots and hit the woodwork and had an assist.

J. Musiala – 710. Opened the scoring in the very first minute. Didn’t have to drop as deep to get the ball today. As a result was a lot more impactful in the final third.

K. Coman – 7/10. The experienced winger was tormenting the Kiel defenders all night. He completed the most dribbles of the game with 4. Created 3 chances and took 3 shots.

Forwards

Harry Kane – 10/10. Simply on a different level. Scored a hat trick to put them to death. Also made an assist. Early contender for the European Golden Boot again.

Substitutions

Thomas Muller – 6/10. Came on at halftime for Jamal Musiala. Didn’t have the same effect as his younger counterpart.

Michael Olise – 7/10. Presumably rested for midweek UCL commitments. Came on at halftime for Gnabry and scored soon after.

Alphonso Davies – 6/10. Came on with half an hour remaining. Didn’t have all that much to do.

Konrad Laimer – 6/10. Like Davies came on with half an hour remaining. Struggled a little to catch up to the level of his teammates.

Mathys Tel – 5/10. Didn’t have enough time to affect the game.

Manager

Vincent Kompany – 8/10. Got everything perfect but this is a game Bayern is expected to win comfortably anyway.
