Tottenham Hotspur Joins Arsenal in Pursuit of Dominic Solanke’s Signature

In a heated competition for Bournemouth’s star striker, Dominic Solanke, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race alongside Arsenal, both eyeing the prolific 26-year-old. Solanke, currently making waves in the Premier League Golden Boot race, sits just behind Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah with an impressive 11 goals in 18 top-flight fixtures.

Solanke’s recent heroics saw him as the hat-trick hero in Bournemouth’s final match before Christmas, delivering a last-gasp winner that denied Nottingham Forest points in Nuno Espirito Santo’s debut as manager. Another goal would see the former Chelsea forward double his tally from the previous campaign, emphasizing his productive start on the South Coast.

Tottenham keen on signing Solanke this summer

The Sun reports that Tottenham are closely monitoring Solanke, with intentions to make a move during the upcoming summer transfer window. Scouts from Ange Postecoglou’s side have been deployed to Bournemouth matches throughout the first half of the season to assess the towering forward’s performances.

Tottenham finds themselves in need of a new number nine following the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for a staggering £100 million in the summer. Despite Kane’s exit, the Lilywhites have excelled in attack, ranking third in the Premier League with an impressive 37 goals, surpassed only by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Postecoglou’s side reportedly deems Solanke a “better prospect” than alternative target Evan Ferguson, the emerging talent from Brighton & Hove Albion. While the 19-year-old Irish international has netted six times in the Premier League this season, Solanke remains the more cost-effective option for Tottenham.

Liverpool, Solanke’s former club, maintains a keen interest in developments surrounding his potential move from the Vitality Stadium. The Reds had secured a 20% sell-on clause when Solanke made the switch from Anfield to the South Coast in 2019.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, in their quest for a top-class forward, are considering Solanke as an alternative to their primary target, Ivan Toney of Brentford. Toney, currently serving an eight-month suspension for breaching FA betting rules, has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in 2023.

As Tottenham gears up to face Brighton, Richarlison is poised to lead the Lilywhites’ attack as they aim to extend their winning streak to four matches. The impending January transfer window promises heightened excitement as the battle for Solanke’s signature intensifies.
