Scotland vs Poland Player Ratings as hosts suffer a humiliating defeat

Poland put on a dramatic thriller comeback against Scotland in the first match of Group A in the UEFA Nations League. Being trailed for two goals two nil, Scotland scored equalisers just to postpone the opponents’ winning goal by Nicola Zalewski. Poland’s other two goals were scored by Sebastian Szymanski and Nicola Zalewski. Meanwhile, Scotland’s two goals were scored by Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay. Angus Gunn (6.1/10): Saved a few chances to keep Poland from scoring more goals.

Defenders

Anthony Ralston (6.3/10): Helped Scotland attack from the right side of the flank

Grant Hanley (6.5/10): To be fair he didn’t play as expected with a low number of blocks and interceptions.

Scott McKenna (6.5/10): Had several interceptions to protect his box area from Poland’s threat.

Andrew Robertson (6.5/10): Provided passes for his teammates upfront with his relentless run on the flank.

Midfielders

Kenny McLean (7/10): Good but manager Steve Clarke needed more than just a good.

Billy Gilmour (7.3/10): Acted as a metronome for the midfield and scored a goal to cut the gap.

Scott McTominay (7.2/10): Scored the equaliser to cheer up the home crowd.

Forwards

John McGinn (6.6/10):

Ryan Christie (7.2/10): Actively put a constant pressure with his passing vision.

Lyndon Dykes (6.7/10): Couldn’t do what the manager expected him to do.

Substitutions

Lawrence Shankland (6.6/10): Dykes couldn’t make a bold impact on the team and that’s where Shankland came in.

Ben Doak (6.5/10): The Liverpool player was expected to bring balance to the midfield alongside Gilmour.

Ryan Gauld (6.6/10): Came in with the hope of giving Scotland another goal in this match.

Lewis Morgan (6.6/10): Replacing Gilmour in the second half just to see his goal conceded in the last minutes.
