Dominic Solanke backed by former Arsenal player to beat Erling Haaland to the Premier League Golden Boot

With the 2024/25 Premier League season underway, fans and pundits alike have started delivering their predictions for the brand-new English domestic season. While some calls are of a regular nature, the majority of the interest and scrutiny always lies in the bold takes. This time around, former Arsenal winger, Theo Walcott has been the name to catch the eyes of the Premier League fans with his prediction for the Golden Boot winner.

Theo Walcott named Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke as the favourite to win the 2024/25 Premier League Golden Boot on Sky Sports‘ segment, ‘Wildest Take’. “Solanke, now at Tottenham, might well be the top goalscorer”. The claim is certainly a wild one by the former England international considering the fact that the new Spurs’ arrival will be up against Erling Haaland. The Manchester City man has lifted the Golden Boot for the last two Premier League campaigns.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has once again taken the lead in the Golden Boot race with four goals in the opening two games. Solanke, on the other hand, has still not opened his account and is currently on the sidelines because of an ankle injury. It is difficult to contemplate anyone eclipsing Erling Haaland with the amount of world-class service behind him coupled with his ruthless finishing abilities.

Dominic Solanke’s journey to a seasoned Premier League striker

Theo Walcott has placed great faith in fellow Englishman, Dominic Solanke to score the most goals this season in the Premier League. While the 26-year-old might not be able to achieve that feat, his role at Tottenham will define the success of his campaign. Ange Postecoglou personally requested his signing from Bournemouth.

Tottenham had to pay a substantial fee of £65 million to convince the Cherries to let him leave the club. Solanke scored 77 goals along with 31 assists during his six-year stay at Bournemouth. 19 of those goals came in the Premier League last season which earned him the sixth spot in the Golden Boot table. His start to life at Tottenham Hotspur has been a slow one but there is still more than enough scope for him to reverse his fortunes.
