Athletic Club vs Valencia Player Ratings: Prados Scores First Goal in Bilbao’s Win

Benat Prados scored the lone goal of the match as Athletic Club eased to a 1-0 win over Valencia in La Liga. The home side kept possession of the ball in the opponent’s half and kept pushing for the goal until they got in right at the end of the first half.

The second half was slightly different, but they ensured that Valencia did not get a single big chance. The away side managed just one shot in the entire match, but it was not on target.

GOALKEEPER

Julen Agirrezabala – 6

Did not have to make a single save the entire match. He had the best seats in the house and was more involved in passing.

DEFENDERS

Óscar de Marcos – 7

The right-back was sitting back the whole game to keep Valencia from countering. He won just three of his 11 duels but got the assist for the only goal of the match.

Daniel Vivian – 7.5

The defender was rock solid and did not put a foot wrong today. He made 9 clearances but had to make just two tackles in the whole game.

Yeray Álvarez – 7

Similar to Vivian, he too had to just sit back and keep the ball moving, as Valencia were toothless in attack. He lost just one of his duels and committed just one foul.

Adama Boiro – 7

Played 79 minutes and was more involved in attack than defense. He won 8 of his 13 duels and finished with 76% pass success.

MIDFIELDERS

Mikel Jauregizar – 6.5

Played the whole match and was all over the pitch. He kept the ball moving and created chances with ease.

Beñat Prados – 8

Scored the match-winner with his only shot in the game and finished with 83% pass success in the 71 minutes he played today.

Iñaki Williams – 6

Not his best game as he was isolated most of the time. Managed just 14 passes in the whole game, but got three shots away in the game.

Oihan Sancet – 6

Came close to scoring early in the match but that was it for him as he was never close to the goal again. He played 70 minutes and finished with 80% pass success.

Álvaro Djaló – 6

Isolated in the whole match and made just 7 passes in the 58 minutes he played today. Hardly got involved in the buildups and never got a shot away as well.

FORWARD

Gorka Guruzeta – 7

Athletic Club were dominating the whole game but he was not involved in a lot of the moves as he was inside the box waiting for the ball. Had three shots away, but only one was on target.

GOALKEEPER

Giorgi Mamardashvili – 7.5

There was very little he could do about the goal as the header was inch-perfect into the bottom corner. He made three saves in the game and was the reason why the scoreline stayed 1-0.

DEFENDERS

Dimitri Foulquier – 7

Spent most of the game defending but he was hardly troubled by Djaló. He lost three of his ground duels but managed to make two important clearances.

César Tárrega – 6.5

Failed to win any of his duels and lost possession 9 times in the game. He could not do much to stop the Bilbao goal and was dribbled past with ease.

Cristhian Mosquera – 7

Did most of the defending in the Valencia defense and was always available to get to the ball.

Jesús Vázquez – 7.5

Pick of the Valencia defenders as he was winning duels, clearing the ball, and blocking shots all over the backline.

MIDFIELDERS

Diego López – 6

Not his best match as he managed just 35 touches in the 82 minutes he played. He was chasing the ball more often than not and was nowhere near when needed.

Pepelu – 7

He tried his best but was not getting the support he needed from the team. He was all over the pitch and was not able to influence the game in the final third.

Hugo Guillamón – 6.5

Played the whole match but hardly made an impact. He managed 45 touches but kept losing possession.

Luis Rioja – 6.5

Another played who was just played the whole but made no impact. The game went past him and there was hardly anything he could do about it.

FORWARDS

Hugo Duro – 6

Played 89 minutes but made just 11 passes. He was nowhere close to the action and kept waiting for the ball in the opposition half.

Rafa Mir – 6

He was hardly involved in the game and was just watching the game as Athletic Club kept the possession of the ball. He managed 8 passes and never got a shot away in the match.
