Al-Hilal agree deal to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City: Fabrizio Romano
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a massive update on Joao Cancelo’s move from Manchester City to Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League club have agreed on a deal worth 25 million Euros to sign Cancelo. The Portuguese full-back has already undergone the first part of his medical and verbal agreement is also in place.
Romano reported that Cancelo will soon sign the documents. He has penned a deal until 2027 and will earn an eye-watering 15 million Euros per year.
“João Cancelo to Al Hilal, here we go! Deal in place for €25m package to Manchester City. Cancelo completed first part of medical and verbal agreement is done, waiting to sign documents in the next hours. Salary up to €15m package net per year on deal until 2027.”
Joao Cancelo hasn’t played for Manchester City after falling out with Pep Guardiola in the middle of the 2022-23 season. He spent half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Bayern Munich. Cancelo played for Barcelona (loan) in 2023-24. The Catalan club were keen to sign Cancelo this season as well. The 30-year-old was also linked with his former clubs Inter Milan and Juventus.
Cancelo, however, will now play for Al-Hilal. He joins international teammate Ruben Neves at the Riyadh-based club. The Saudi Pro League is now home to Portugal internationals like Cristiano Ronaldo, Otavio, Cancelo, and Neves.
