Liverpool join race for Lille’s Jonathan David amidst Premier League rivalry

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Lille’s Jonathan David – the Canadian forward who has been in scintillating form since the start of the 2023/24 season.

With 43 goal contributions to his name, David has caught the attention of several top clubs including Liverpool who are keen to bolster their attacking options despite already having a strong front line.

Liverpool are prepared to offer David a long-term contract, believed to be between four to five years with a transfer fee in the region of €45m-€50m.

But they face stiff competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Napoli. Napoli have reportedly agreed on personal terms with David offering a five-year contract with an annual salary of €3 million but they have yet to meet Lille’s asking price currently offering around €35 million.

With just a week left in the transfer window, Liverpool will need to act quickly if they want to secure David’s signature. As the battle for one of Ligue 1’s top talents intensifies it remains to be seen which club will emerge victorious.
