Tomas Soucek saves ball boy in scary incident during West Ham vs Crystal Palace match

West Ham’s Tomas Soucek became an unexpected hero during the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, when he rescued a young ball boy trapped beneath a collapsed advertising hoarding.

The dramatic incident occurred in the 67th minute just after Soucek scored the opening goal for West Ham, sparking wild celebrations among the away fans at Selhurst Park.

Quick-Thinking Soucek saves the day

As fans rushed forward to celebrate Soucek’s goal, the force caused an advertising hoarding near the pitch to collapse. In the chaos, a young ball boy, sitting close to the action, became trapped under the heavy board.

Unaware of the danger, West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta joined the celebrating crowd inadvertently adding to the pressure on the trapped boy.

Fortunately, Tomas Soucek noticed the boy’s predicament and quickly stepped in. The midfielder used his strength to lift the hoarding allowing the boy to crawl out safely.

West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen also acted fast pulling the youngster out of harm’s way. The boy visibly shaken was comforted by several West Ham players who stayed with him until he felt better.

After the final whistle the players continued to show their support with one player even giving the boy his shirt as a keepsake.

Fans were quick to praise Soucek’s actions on social media. One fan wrote, “Epitomises the man Tomas Soucek is. You may criticise him as a player but as a person he’s top class,” while another added, “That could have been really ugly if he didn’t step in there.”

The match ended with West Ham securing a 2-0 victory marking their first Premier League win under new manager Julen Lopetegui. Soucek and Bowen the goal scorers were also the heroes off the pitch ensuring a potentially dangerous situation ended safely.

West Ham’s win lifted them to seventh in the league standings while Crystal Palace remains at the bottom without a point. Speaking after the game Lopetegui expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and their ability to secure the win for their fans.
