Enzo Maresca tells Ben Chilwell to find a new club
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has asked Ben Chilwell to leave the club in the summer if he wants to get more minutes as a first-team starter. The England international managed only 13 Premier League appearances last season and is not part of Maresca’s plans moving forward.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order behind Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill because of his recurring injuries in the past two seasons. Maresca admitted that the full-back would struggle to break into the first team and must look for a new challenge in this summer window.
“At this moment, Chilly is with us. He has not been training in the past two days because he was a little bit ill,” Maresca, who swapped Leicester for Chelsea this summer, recently said.
He added, “With Chilly it’s quite clear, I love the way he trains, I love the way he is, but the problem is that he struggles with us a little bit to find his best position.”
