Everton amongst the clubs linked with a potential move for former Liverpool star

As per a recent report by ‘CaughtOffside’, Premier League club Everton is among the clubs interested in signing former Liverpool star player Joel Matip in the ongoing summer transfer window. The defender is currently without a club since departing the Reds at the end of the previous Premier League season.

The Toffees are however likely to face competition from league rivals Fulham and Budesliga’s Bayer Leverkusen for the signature of the 32-year-old player. With the situation at Everton regarding their defensive options still quite vulnerable at this stage leading into a new season, links with Matip do make sense.

Reports in the English media have laid out that Michael Keane and Mason Holgate might leave the Merseyside club this window making that area of the pitch fall short of options for Sean Dyche and Everton’s hierarchy. Also, the future of Jarrad Branwaite at the Toffees is uncertain as of now with him being linked with a few big clubs in recent times.
