Southampton agree transfer fee for Ben Brereton Diaz

As per ‘Transfer News Live’, and further backed by Spanish outlet ‘Diario AS’, Premier League club Southampton has agreed upon a certain transfer fee for forward Ben Brereton Diaz with La Liga side Villarreal.

The transfer fee agreed upon is reported to be around £7 million. The ‘Transfer New Live’ report also signifies that personal terms between the player and the club might not emerge to be a hectic issue going forward in the deal. Brereton Diaz played Premier League football on loan for relegated Sheffield United in the second half of the last season.

Whatever opportunity the 25-year-old got, he managed to leave an impact in front of the goal among the club’s fans and football Pundits as well. The United Kingdom-born player had a respectable tally of 7 goal contributions (six goals and one assist) in his 14 appearances for the Blades last English top-flight season.

His primary position is of a left-winger, but Ben Brereton Diaz is equally well efficient in playing as a center-forward.

Considering the fact that, his current contract with Villarreal does run till June 2027, if Southampton manages to get this deal over the line in the coming days, it might just turn out to be one of the deals of the summer for the Saints after earning a well-deserved promotion back to the Premier League by winning the EFL Championship play-off final.
