“Here we go”: Arne Slot is the next Liverpool head coach, confirms Fabrizio Romano
Following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement in January, it has sent Liverpool fans into a tailspin especially after the German revealed that he was set to leave the club. The former Borussia Dortmund has spent more than seven years at the club, leading them to a Premier League title and a Champions League crown. Not only that, Klopp’s time at Anfield and seen them become one of the best teams in the world.
However, with the German leaving, it has many wondering who could potentially replace him with Xabi Alonso at the top of that shortlist. But the Spaniard has since confirmed that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least one more season, leaving the Reds up in the air. Yet in the weeks since Alonso’s announcement, reports have indicated that the club are looking at other targets.
Arne Slot is the next Liverpool head coach
Thomas Tuchel, Roberto de Zerbi and Arne Slot amongst a few others were reportedly on the Reds’ list but recent reports indicated that Slot was the favourite for the job. The Dutchman, currently in charge of Feyenoord, even revealed, in an interview, that he was open to the job. The 43-year-old reportedly rejected Tottenham last summer, as he wanted to spend another year in the Netherlands.
However, now Fabrizio Romano has reported that a deal has been done with Slot set to replace Jurgen Klopp as the Liverpool head coach at the end of the season. The Italian reporter revealed that an agreement has been sealed between Feyenoord and Liverpool over compensation. Not only that, reports indicated that personal terms were never an issue with Slot keen on the move.
