Manchester United Injury Update: Harry Maguire is the only centre back fit for FA Cup semis

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag provided updates regarding his team prior to the FA Cup semi final against Coventry City. As the Dutch reported, it was likely that United would miss several key players in the only tournament United could hope to win.

It appears that Harry Maguire would be the only available centre back for the match. The England international picked up some issues when United played against Bournemouth in the league but Ten Hag assured that he was fit.

Manchester United Injury Update: Erik Ten Hag talks about Harry Maguire’s situation

“We have some problems I already said”, coach Erik ten Hag said. “Harry [Maguire], all game against Bournemouth he struggled, he had an issue, he had a small injury, he didn’t train this week so far. But now he’s back on the pitch. So, we expect him today back in the team training. He will be available I think, I hope, for Sunday.”

Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Johnny Evans, Victor Lindelof, and WIlly Kambwala are all out. To fix this situation, Ten Hag is reported to do a little experiment with Casemiro, pairing the Brazilian with Maguire in the back line, according to a football expert, Fabrizio Romano.

Ten Hag added that there would also be some changes in the United lineup compared to the last one against Bournemouth. Anthony and Scott McTominay are expected to get their feet back on the pitch when the matchday comes.

“I hope that Antony will return and that Scott McTominay will return,” Ten Hag said via the club’s website. “And I think so because Antony trained all week and Scott McTominay will step in training today in the full team training.”

United would consider the FA Cup as their only possible title to win this season. A heroic victory over the archrival Liverpool in the quarter final could boost the morale of Ten Hag’s squad to avoid a title-less season.
