Pep Guardiola Praises Liverpool and Arsenal in Press Conference
A recent Pep Guardiola press conference saw the Man City gaffer highlight an area where title challengers Liverpool and Arsenal are better than his side as the three clubs are locked in a three-horse race for the Premier League title.
Pep Guardiola Press Conference: “All three teams have had incredible seasons.”
After Manchester City’s exhilarating 5-1 victory against Luton Town, a Pep Guardiola press conference saw the City gaffer speak about the title race as Man City ended matchday 33 on top of the table. According to Guardiola, despite City’s impressive form, there is still one department in which Liverpool and Arsenal are much better, making the title race harder for City. Speaking on the challenge to win the title, Pep said, “With the contenders we have in Arsenal and Liverpool, we cannot draw many games. That’s why we are still there.”
The Pep Guardiola press conference also saw the gaffer highlight the difference between his City side and the two other clubs. He said, “The only biggest difference between Arsenal, Liverpool and us is that they won a lot of points in stoppage-time. A lot. That helped them be in the position they are. Of course, all three teams have had incredible seasons. But they won a lot of points for the talent they have because of this.
“In that department they are much better than us, but still we’re there. What a privilege. I would not change our position for any other team.”
Man City end Matchday 33 top of the Premier League Table:
Following the Pep Guardiola press conference on Saturday, Liverpool and Arsenal were both in action in the English Premier League on Sunday. However, both sides fell to shock defeats.
The Reds faced Crystal Palace at home and were stunned as a lone Eberechi Eze goal helped Palace to a 0-1 victory at Anfield. Surprisingly this was Liverpool’s second home defeat in the same week as the Reds lost 0-3 to Atlanta in the Europa League first leg quarterfinals. The loss blew away the advantage Liverpool had in the league and now trail behind first-placed Man City by 2 points.
Meanwhile, the Gunners were faced with a harder challenge at home as they took on 4th-placed Aston Villa. While both sides created several chances, it was Aston Villa who scored two goals late to win the game 0-2 at the Emirates Stadium. The loss meant that while Arsenal entered matchday 32 as table toppers, they are now 2nd in the league behind new league leaders Manchester City. Liverpool and Arsenal are at par with both teams having accumulated 71 points.
