A Vincent Kompany ban will see the Burnley manager suspended for two games after he received a red card during Burnley’s Premier League tie against Chelsea.
Vincent Kompany Ban: Why was the gaffer shown a red card?
Relegation-threatened Burnley were dealt a big blow this week as a Vincent Kompany ban will see the club’s manager missing from the sidelines in Burnley’s upcoming battles in the English Premier League. According to the official statement of the Football Association, Kompany was handed a two-game ban due to his ‘misconduct’ in Burnley’s draw against Chelsea. The Belgian gaffer was seen using abusive language after Chelsea were awarded a controversial penalty and was eventually red-carded by the referee.
In their official statement regarding the Vincent Kompany ban, the FA said, “Burnley FC’s Vincent Kompany has been fined £10,000 and suspended from the touchline for two matches following misconduct at their Premier League game against Chelsea FC on Saturday 30 March. One match is to be served immediately and one match suspended until 31 December 2024. The manager admitted that his language and/or behavior in the 40th minute of the fixture was improper and/or abusive and/or insulting towards a match official and/or questioned the integrity of a match official. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a subsequent hearing.”
With the ban, Kompany will definitely be absent from the sidelines for Burnley’s weekend tie against Brighton in the English Premier League as the club desperately attempts to avoid relegation.
Vincent Kompany’s statement on the ban:
Speaking to the media in a press conference ahead of Burnley’s tie against Brighton and Hove Albion, Kompany said, “I totally acknowledge that what I said in the moment does not reflect what I feel about the official and the integrity of someone. The Belgian gaffer also added to his statement and said, “It was too harsh and it was not what I meant.”
